On Wednesday July 19th, the vibrant and culturally rich Agnes Etherington Art Centre was alive with literary excitement for the launch of the 2023 Kingston WritersFest. The occasion was made even more special as LodgePole Arts Alliance proudly stepped forward as a sponsor for this year's festival.
The chair of LodgePole Arts Alliance, Dr. Terri-Lynn Brennan, opened the evening with a welcome to mark the celebration of WritersFest in a good way. Afterwards, speeches were given by the founder, artistic director, and chair of the board of directors of WritersFest to commemorate the launch.
With a heartfelt commitment to supporting Indigenous voices, LodgePole Arts Alliance is supporting two Indigenous authors this year, Alicia Elliot and Angela Sterritt.
The launch event was a true celebration of literature and culture, as attendees had the chance to connect with these remarkable authors and their captivating stories. The Agnes Etherington Art Centre served as the perfect backdrop for this memorable occasion, uniting art and literature in a harmonious fusion.
As the 2023 Kingston WritersFest commences, we can already feel the powerful impact it will have, thanks to the steadfast support of LodgePole Arts Alliance and the spotlight on Alicia Elliot and Angela Sterritt's empowering voices. This festival promises to be a testament to the strength of Indigenous storytelling and its enduring ability to inspire, educate, and bridge cultures through the written word.
