In conjunction with A Vital Force: The Canadian Group of Painters, we offer a program of art historical and personal perspectives. The Canadian Group of Painters (CGP) emerged from the Group of Seven in 1933, but became much more. Four experts in Canadian historical art- Alicia Boutilier, Laura Brandon, Anna Hudson, Agnes Ladon- discuss groundbreaking artworks by the modernist artists, interspersed with dramatic readings, to convey the excitement of the artistic scene in Canada of the 1930s and 1940s.
