Ron Benner: All That Has ValueAgnes Etherington Art CentreWednesday 15 June 20167 pm A talk by internationally recognized artist, gardener, and activist Ron Benner, who is based in London, Ontario, drawing on his extensive travels and polymath learning. The artist’s unique multimedia gardening art practice is dedicated to the ecology and political economy of the movement of plants, food, farming, and industrial agriculture on local and global scales.Benner’s presentation is the opening event of an interdisciplinary conference, Making Common Causes, being held on campus June 15 to 18, 2016. All are welcome to attend this session, and admission is free.Artist info: Ron Benner is an internationally recognized artist, gardener, and activist based in London, Ontario.  Drawing on his extensive travels and polymath learning, his unique multimedia gardening art practice is notably dedicated to the ecology and political economy of the movement of plants, food, farming, and industrial agriculture on local and global scales.  These installations and their concerns are explored in his book, Gardens of a Colonial Present (Museum London 2008).  His works are in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the University of Toronto, the University of Western Ontario, Museum London, the Canada Council Art Bank, and the Casa de Las Americas in Havana, Cuba.
