It’s a Demo Day at the Allan Macpherson House & Park in Napanee! On August 29th at 2pm join Museum staff and Ellena’s Cafe for a yearend celebration of another wonderful summer at the Macpherson House. We invite you to a traditional Ice Cream Social and pie baking competition. You can bring in your homemade dish and our panel of judges will do a taste test to pick a winner. The judges will also each be bringing their favourite homemade pie for the public to taste and vote on. You do not have to bring a dish to attend, everyone is welcome.Ice cream is not only a favorite and delicacy of today; Canadians have been enjoying it as a scrumptious treat for 200 years! Ice Cream Socials were a favorite by the mid 1800’s; with many groups celebrating events with this delicious treat that was once a secret treat for only the King! Visitors will be taught the traditional way to churn their own ice cream and will get to enjoy it with their pie. Admission is free! Demo Days take place Tuesday and Thursdays in July and August under the event tent, in the gardens of the Macpherson House. For more information, call 613-354-3027.
