
The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston is pleased to be a community partner in bringing the replica 1862 Canal Schooner Lois McLure to Kingston August 18-19 2012. The ship will be open for public tours between 10:00 and 5:00 Saturday and Sunday August 18-19 on the West side of the Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront Hotel. Right in downtown Kingston. This tour “1812 Commemorating the War Celebrating the Peace” brings this replica canal schooner with a mission to preserve and share the region’s heritage and an on board exhibit exploring the events that led up to the war of 1812 and key episodes of the early conflict. The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes will be hosting Art Cohn, special projects director at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum for a lecture "What should we do with Benedict Arnold's Gunboat? Shipwreck Management in the 21st Century" a 25 minute DVD and presentation and opportunity for discussion at 7:00 PM Saturday August 18.
