
‘Art in the Museum Borderlands’The Department of Film and Media, Cultural Studies Graduate Program, and CRC in Indigenous Arts presents Srimoyee Mitra at the Agnes Atrium on Wednesday, 8 March at 2:30 pm. Mitra is Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Windsor. She has worked as the Art Writer for publications in India such as Time Out Mumbai and Art India Magazine. Mitra will discuss her award-winning three-year exhibition Border Cultures: Part One (homes, land), 2013, Border Cultures: Part Two (work, labour), 2014, and Border Cultures: Part Three (security, surveillance), 2015. Featuring the work of 45 national and international artists, Mitra’s exhibition sought to broaden today’s movement toward social justice and de-colonial methodologies within museums and galleries. This session will include a roundtable with graduate researchers from Cultural Studies.
