Mark Rothko, a leading American painter of the 20th century, confronted the demons that face every artist: commercialism, legacy and the true value of art in society. His struggle is dramatized in the Tony-awardwinning play Red, by John Logan, which receives its regional premiere in a production by Theatre Kingston this winter. In partnership with Theatre Kingston, the Agnes presents a dialogue between Charlotte Gowdy, director, and Dr. Allison Morehead, Assistant Professor in Art History at Queen’s and a specialist in modern art. Red runs 29 January–15 February. Contact The Grand Theatre Box office at 613.530.2050 or www.kingstongrand.ca for information about the performance.
