Preamble:
Studying the history of infectious disease outbreaks, it becomes evident that society is hesitant to accept new information. Whether it is the production of masks and gloves or quarantines and vaccines, people take time to adjust to updated healthcare standards. From the discovery of germ theory through to the modern era, Jessica Lanziner traces how personal protective equipment and strategies of prevention have evolved to the current standard of practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Presented by the Museum of Health Care, as part of the Annual Margaret Angus Research Fellowship)
