Doors Open Kingston 2021 - Museum of HealthCare

Date:
Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 10:00am to Sunday, September 26, 2021 - 4:00pm

Welcome to our Doors Open 2021 Kingston!  Be part of that unique behind the scenes peeks within Kingston's cultural attractions!

The imposing, beau-arts style Ann Baillie Building was originally a student nurses' residence from 1904 to 1969. It is now home of the Museum of Healthcare with its extensive collection of artifacts. Gallery visits, tours of the archives and children's activities will allow you to experience the history of health care in Canada.

This Doors Open event features two types of tours - outdoor walking tour and a special inside tour peeking at the galleries and the collections rooms!

Outdoor Tour: Walk in the footsteps of some of Kingston’s earliest residents and arrivals as they engage in a quest for health care in the Limestone City. The story of establishment of one of Canada’s oldest public hospitals, Kingston General Hospital, is one full of success and sacrifice, triumph and tragedy. Join us for a fascinating look into the lives of those that lived, arrived and died here, as we unlock the secrets of Kingston’s medical history. This tour is 1.5 hours in length. Maximum of 12 guests. Runs rain or shine. Masks are required

Indoor Self-Guided Gallery Tour and Guided Collections Tour: 1 hour in length. 5 guests max. must be from same household.

Our Doors Open Tours are set up to follow health and safety guidelines as outlined in the Step 3 – Reopening Ontario legislation and KFL&A Public Health Unit specific protocols. Each of our participating sites has outlined their capacities and available tickets numbers are based on their input.

Please remember to bring an appropriate face mask or covering as recommended by the Kingston Public Health Unit. A small supply of masks will be available for each tour and hand sanitizer for your use.

Tours are scheduled from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and allowing time for cleaning and sanitizing between tours. Please click here to register for a tour:
